Gun Rodeo was founded in 2015 with the mission of bringing the Shooting Sports industry into the 21st century. We noticed, as I'm sure many of you did as well, that the Shooting Sports industry has languished while seemingly every other industry received the benefits of the Tech Revolution. We asked ourselves: Where is OUR Facebook? Where is OUR social media platform?
Instead we simply saw the Shooting Sports industry using tech services that were designed for other people: grandparents looking at pictures of kids, or picture sharing sites designed for bloggers. We couldn't find anything built specifically for us.
So we decided to build it. From scratch.
And so welcome to Gun Rodeo. The first technology platform built SPECIFICALLY for the Shooting Sports industry. The first technology platform not afraid of the word GUN. The first technology platform where YOU own YOUR data: the first technology platform that's "Set to Forget". The first technology platform built on the premises of the Second Amendment: Industrial Strength.
Welcome to Gun Rodeo: High Caliber Technology.

Bugs Everywhere!
The Grasshopper and the Ants
In a field one summer's day a grasshopper was hopping about, chirping and singing to its heart's content. A group of ants walked by, grunting as they struggled to carry plump kernels of corn.
{{img}}
"Where are you going with those heavy things?" asked the grasshopper.
{{img}}
Without stopping, the first ant replied, "To our ant hill. This is the third kernel I've delivered today."
{{img}}
"Why not come and sing with me," teased the grasshopper, "instead of working so hard?"
{{img}}
"We are helping to store food for the winter," said the ant, "and think you should do the same."
{{img}}
"Winter is far away and it is a glorious day to play," sang the grasshopper.
But the ants went on their way and continued their hard work.
The weather soon turned cold. All the food lying in the field was covered with a thick white blanket of snow that even the grasshopper could not dig through. Soon the grasshopper found itself dying of hunger.
He staggered to the ants' hill and saw them handing out corn from the stores they had collected in the summer. He begged them for something to eat.
"What!" cried the ants in surprise, "haven't you stored anything away for the winter? What in the world were you doing all last summer?"
"I didn't have time to store any food," complained the grasshopper; "I was so busy playing music that before I knew it the summer was gone."
The ants shook their heads in disgust, turned their backs on the grasshopper and went on with their work.

Guns on Campus. In California?
California's Kingsbury Joint Union High School District's board has unanimously approved a new policy which will allow some #teachers-to-carry guns on campus. Effective immediately, the new policy will allow up to 5 teachers to carry a concealed weapon. Approximately 20 miles form Fresno, CA, the campus hosts approximately 1,200 students and has no security on-site.

Castle Doctrine: How Close is Too C
Filed in the category of the #Castle-Doctrine, a homeowner in Alexander County N.C. shot and killed a man, he claims in self-defense of his home.
After a disagreement, Jason Clary shot alleged assailant Travis Harold in the driveway of Clary's house. Clary claims Harold and others arrived at his house armed with metal pipes, with intent to do him harm. Clary claims he shot Harold in self-defense, but cell phone video captured at the scene shows a distance of up to 50 feet between the men. Harold died while en route to the hospital.
The question is: where does the Castle Doctrine begin? Is 50 feet close enough to provide a reasonable expectation of probable harm? Or does the Castle Doctrine only allow self-defense from an assailant inside your home?
At the Rodeo, we want to know. Add your voice in the comments below.
Clary has been charged with first-degree murder and is being held without bail.

"I have been reading so much on this law for a few reasons. As an instructor who teaches home defense I feel it should be something everyone should know. As with most laws each state has there own wording. In Ohio it breaks down as this , you must with out any reasonable doubt prove that you are in harm and the person has to be in your house or on your property . You also have to try to get away and warn the person three times. I know what your thinking , what the F . I'm in danger and I have to do all this? Here is how I explain it. Yes that is the law and with most laws there is no commend sense. The fact that in the time you do all that you can be killed. To stay alive you need to think fast. In your house there are places to hide. Back rooms or bedrooms are great because you can yell get out I will shoot in the time it takes for them to get to you then shoot threw the door. Or you play the card that I like to call wound the s o b . It looks better in court if you don't kill the person. You have to remember to get the gun away from the person with this one. Also no matter what happens the bad guy or there family can still sue you . That comes to the last thing I teach and that is have a good lawyer. There are great tips to help you at www.usconcealedcarry.com . I hope this helps some."

Home Invasion Ends in Shooting
#Shooting #News: Peoria Arizona resident Dave Bowers woke up to his house alarm going off and confidence someone had broken in.
"I have just one entrance into the house and that's the back door. He came through the breezeway, turned the corner and he had a torch. By the time I got from the bedroom. He was already lighting the floor on fire," said Bowers.
Bowers went for his gun and the arsonist came after him, no doubt with intent to do great bodily harm. Bowers managed to reach his weapon but the arsonist reached him as well.
"We were scuffling on the floor, he said 'Aren't you concerned about the fire?' But I wasn't going to give him the gun," said Bowers.
Bowers must have known he'd need to pull the trigger for this nightmare to end.
"I think I emptied the gun. I fired once in the in the house. and five times as he went across the field," said Bowers. "... I don't understand how he got up," said Dave Bowers. "A 357 with a hollow-point round is devastating."
One tough criminal, indeed. The suspect was found several blocks away and Maricopa County Sheriff's Office stated he was released form jail only two weeks ago.
Bowers house was a total loss, and a friend, a 73-year old, was killed in the fire.

Zore Introduces a New Kind of Safet
#GunSafety #news: Zore Inc. has introduced a new kind of gun lock: one that's loaded with technology, but still operates mechanically. Key Features:
- Accelerometer for movement notifications
- Mechanical functioning
- Side mountedr
- Expands inside the chamber
- Dial lock with audible clicks
- After unlocking, simply chamber a round to eject the lock
“Unlike smart guns which are trying to save lives by defecting guns — we left the guns as they are — untouched (and perfectly working). Our lock just makes sure that gun owners are aware of their guns even when they are not on them,” said Yachdav Gilbar, a developer on Zore’s team, in an email to Guns.com.
Read more at Guns.com
"Zore began the campaign using a Kickstarter fund. As of now, they're just coming out of the incubator phase and are introducing their product to the marketplace. Thus, pricing numbers have fluctuated. I suspect we'll see more consistent pricing in the coming few weeks. The most interesting bit of their tech is the way the lock ejects itself from the weapon after unlocking. Simply dial in the unlock code and pull the slide. The lock eject in the same way a spent casing would: by flying off the side."

It's not a Park. It's SCHOOL ZONE
In the category of #Breaking-News, #Universal has claimed their entire theme park is actually a school zone. But Dean Kumanchik can have his job back.
Seasoned Universal employee #DeanKumanchik had his licensed handgun, a Diamondback .380, stolen from his vehicle. And he was fired for it. According to Universal, Kumanchik was fired for violation of company policies regarding the use and possession of firearms.
However, Florida law specifically allows the possession of handguns, outside certain specific business type. According to a Universal park spokesman, Universal is exempt from that law. Universal claims the Orange County Public Schools runs an alternative education program at the park, therefore the entire park is designated as a school zone. Read more at www.wesh.com

#News Mississippi passes new carry
Recent #Concealed-Carry news courtesy of Guns.com
Magnolia state lawmakers are looking to Gov. Bryant to sign a set of measures headed his way that would lower the cost of carry permits, allow a number of exemptions and safeguard controversial ammunition.
The pair of bills, which originated in the state senate, passed by huge margins in the deep red state and stand to drop the price of CCW licenses by 20 percent while disabled vets, those who carry in purses or bags, and active duty military will be exempt from having to get a permit. Additionally, M855 “green tip” ammunition will be granted protection under state law.

Debate about the weapons #policy at Quicken Arena was heightened after the appearance of an online petition, hosted by Change.org, to allow the #OpenCarry of weapons during the convention. The arena has a stated "No Weapons" policy, except for law enforcement.

Ideal Conceal - A Little Gun, A Big
#NEWS Ideal Conceal has created a new double barreled .380 which collapses into a small shape resembling a smartphone. Ideal for #ConcealedCarry but perhaps not the best for #Instagram or #Facebook.
The obvious concern is mid-identification by law enforcement. It's possible for law enforcement to think a weapon is present whenever a suspect is brandishing a cellphone. In the new era for videotaping law enforcement, generally from smartphones, it perhaps opens a new chapter accidental shootings. The manufacturer states it will be available this summer for $400.

#BigSandy Madness Begins!
The owner of SureShot Exploding Targets sponsored the 2015 Big Sandy with over a ton of explosives. To make it even better, he commemorated the passing of his father, a veteran, by blowing up his ashes in a singled 700 pound detonation! We don't know the name of the person who took the final shot of a great man, but I think we can all agree, it was a poignant (and powerful!) moment!
